#901: PRIVATE Guided tour to Tatev Monastery
This is one of the longest day trips that we organize. We will head to the most southern region of Armenia, mountainous Syunik. Here is located the Tatev monastery, one of the biggest monastic complexes that remained up to our days.
In 2010 Cable Car “Wings of Tatev” was built, that connects village Halidzor with Tatev. With more than 5700 m long, this is the longest reversible aerial tramway built in only one section. "Wings of Tatev" holds the record for Longest non-stop double track cable car.
The exceptional part of this trip is the visits to the natural bridge called satan bridge as well as, a beautiful waterfall located not far from Shaki.
It will be a big loss if one visits Syunik and did not see Karahunge. The core of the name Karahunj is "kar" that in translation from Armenian means stone. Up to our days, the usage of these stones remains unclear. Some historians consider that this monument was built by the ancient civilizations as an observatory while the others predispose to the hypothesis that it was built by ancient tribes as a religious site.
