Gyumri city, located on some 120 KM away from Yerevan, used to be the center of the region in the 19th century.

However, the devastating earthquake of 1989 heavily damaged the city, it still preserved the spirit and style of old times. In comparison with Yerevan, Gyumri is the city where you will find the old town with the pre-Soviet buildings and traditional inhabitants.
